Lion Quality egg products are produced by British Egg Products Association (BEPA) members and must be processed from British Lion Quality shell eggs. This guarantees production of the eggs to significantly higher standards of hygiene and animal welfare than required by UK or EU law, complete traceability, a best-before date on the shell and compulsory vaccination of the laying flock against salmonella.

Strict controls are also imposed on the content, production, storage and transportation of feed, which comply with the DEFRA Code of Practice for the Control of Salmonellae in the Final Production of Feed for Livestock and be produced to the standard required by the UKASTA Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS). Growth promoting substances and raw materials that could produce taint or toxins in eggs are banned. The use of any ingredients derived from mammalian or avian sources is also prohibited.

BEPA members also abide by a separate Code of Practice, which sets out very strict hygiene controls on processing, pasteurisation and packing, and undergo independent auditing.

In order to assure food safety, critical procedures are identified, implemented, maintained and reviewed on the basis of HACCP principles.

Lion Quality egg products offer total convenience and quality whilst still providing value for money. Using egg products minimises wastage by decreasing reliance on storage space and manpower. Delivery is flexible, handling is minimal, and they require little or no preparation, avoiding the inconvenience of creating egg blends or mixes on-site.

The available range of egg products reflects customer needs and new egg products are introduced on a continuing basis to satisfy the changing requirements of the industry.
